Marvel Studios officially announced Captain Marvel 2 was in the works in early 2020, with WandaVision’s Megan McDonnell writing the script. The movie later received a July 2022 release date and secured Candyman’s Nia DaCosta as its director. While Marvel then delayed Captain Marvel 2 to November due to the constantly shifting Phase 4 slate, the movie has continued to make progress. Casting is underway ahead of filming beginning in May, but that also means Larson and other stars are deep in the training process to get in superhero shape.
